2018-19 PMTA Student Events
Student Recital Series
4 events spread through the year, each allowing students at any level of advancement to perform up to 2 pieces.
Purpose: To give all piano, instrumental and vocal students an opportunity to perform in a recital setting.
Locations: Az Piano, Phoenix
Dates: October 6, 2018; December 1, 2018; March 2, 2019; May 11, 2019
Fall Festival and Competition
Purpose: To give students the opportunity to be evaluated performing before a judge. Each student will receive a written critique and a gold, silver, or bronze medal, or a participant's ribbon. A Gold Medal Winners Recital and Awards Ceremony will be held the day following the auditions.
2018 theme: "Russian Composers and More..." - Each student performs two pieces, one of which must be by a Russian composer.
Location: Glendale Community College, Glendale
Dates: October 20-21, 2018
Music at the Mall
Purpose: To provide a special opportunity for students of all ages to perform publicly and to showcase the accomplishments of students in our community. To provide quality music for the listener, as well as a positive experience for the students and favorable exposure for teachers, PMTA, and the music stores providing pianos.
Locations: Arrowhead Towne Center, Paradise Valley Mall
Date: Saturday, December 8, 2018, 9am - 7pm
Piano Ensemble
"Monster" piano concerts offering the opportunity for piano students to perform as part of a large ensemble of many pianists playing at once.
Location: Arcadia High School, Phoenix
Date for the 67th PMTA Piano Ensemble 2019: February 9, 2019
Dean & Carolyn Elder Competition
Purpose: To give students an opportunity to perform solo repertoire in a competitive setting and be adjudicated.
Requirement: Two memorized pieces, with contrasting styles, from any period or era.
Location: Az Piano, Phoenix
Dates: Competition - March 23, 2019; Winners Recital - March 24, 2019
Adult Student Recitals
Purpose: To provide an opportunity for adult students to perform outside their respective studios. In addition to performing, these students will have the opportunity to meet other adults enjoying their chosen endeavor. This recital is held in the inviting atmosphere of a home studio. All levels are invited to participate.
